mom&dad :: We met in 2009 in an improv class at Eastern Michigan University when Chris was an undergrad and Erin was in graduate school but didn’t really know each other. Two years later Erin directed Chris in a puppet show in the winter of 2011 and we started dating shortly after. After Chris graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 2012, we moved to Chicago, and were married in Chicago three and half years ago on April 26, 2014.
mom’s labor experience :: Fast! Erin started having what she thought might be contractions around 9am but wasn’t sure. By 10am she called her doctor and Chris at work and thought maybe it was false labor but her doctor said to go to the hospital and be seen. By the time we got there the contractions intensified and Chris was convinced Calvin would make his appearance that day. We got to the hospital around 12:30pm and Calvin was here six short hours later! After a difficult pregnancy, we were so grateful for a healthy baby, fast labor, and the ability to choose an epidural
first moments with baby :: Being able to finally hold and see Calvin after nine months made us both so happy. When Chris held Calvin for the first time, he wrapped his whole hand around Chris’ finger and completely stole our hearts. Erin thought she’d be pregnant forever, so she was very surprised when Calvin arrived. We both thought he looked like Erin’s dad and that the McDonald genes were strong. We couldn’t believe how much we already loved him in those first few moments.
favorite thing about baby ::His old man smile, his snuggles, and when he holds one of our fingers with his whole hand. He has also had some comically loud farts that make us look at each other and laugh.
Your perfect Sunday :: Nothing on the schedule but relaxing and family snuggle time.
what about this stage in your life do you want to always remember :: We want to remember how new and exciting everything is, how fast it’s all going and how it feels to experience all of this for the first time together.
We have thought about the idea of you for so long and were overjoyed when we found out we were expecting you. Now that you are finally here we love sharing our home and hearts with you and are enjoying introducing you to so many friends and family that already love you. We can already see your gentle, laid back spirit shine through each day and are having fun getting to know who you are. We look forward to watching you learn and grow and to having many adventures together as a family. You are the child we hoped, dreamed and prayed for and we love you unconditionally. Thank you for making us parents.
Your Mommy and Daddy
